Comments about the HHB Survey Section are most memorable. They were a wild bunch and had quite a reputation for making extraordinary parties. One night room stereo war broke out. Wow, in a late night competition... Who had the loudest and most powerful stereo? Four rooms blasting favorite music at 200 watts plus was a show to witness. Closed doors were vibrating... CQ was going nuts and we caught SDO attention and a serious of memorable conversations occurred - it was that room... no that one.. they did it... no it was the Red Eye team, No FDC was it... In the end 3 sets of expensive stereo speakers were complete blown - plus ear drums of those in the rooms... Fortunately things settled down and the only damage other than the speakers were the huge hang overs the next day.

I remember SGT Curtis had a excellent Sansui system and when SSG Odom got promoted to SFC I had CQ. They were celebrating in SGT Curtis's room and I told them to hole the noise down and they told me to get the SDO. He came but did nothing, LOL. Memories are great.

Good people you meet. Where did they go after being a Red Devil? In the BN FDC section a few hard working and always helpful team members made the tour fun Two were SP4 Hastings and the other was SP4 Blocker. Hastings was never afraid to work or help, had big dreams of being a rock star and partied like one too (watching him sing.... I knew why he joined). Blocker was a young fellow who had much potential and was full of enthusiasm (for just about anything). Both of these guys we just great to have in the section. example - in one of those memorable trips to Graf we were in the field live firing for a week in preparation for next ARTEP. As only in Graf... it rained for days on end. The old saying was "It's not training unless it's raining" was true. We were knee deep in mud, soaked and cold... having to "move, shoot and communicate" had new meanings. Both of these guys helped set up the FDC, Camo Nets, OE254's and fighting positions (small swamps) all with a great attitude. Just having these guys around, you knew that you could count on them. They were not big shots, just guys that made the team - work. SGT Curtis was another always there to let you know that doing the small things right mattered. (He was a Vietnam vet and knew more than we would ever suspect). SGT Curtis would lend a hand and make sure we did the job. Hope life treats you well. You guys all rocked.
