I arrived at Rivers Barracks in July of 1961 and left in January of 1964.
I was attached to Headquarters Battery as a clerk for Sgt. Fowler. After about six months I went to radio school in Darmstadt and came back to Rivers Barracks as a morse code operator. I can still remember all those nights sitting at the radio through the night in the basement of the Headquarters Building while everyone who wasn't on guard duty was fast asleep.
By the time I left I became Battalion Radio Chief and was promoted to Sgt.
Some of the guys I remember are Dale Elmore, Johnny Wayne Gary, Ron Herren, Ron Witt, Ron Baltimore, Sgt. Snuffy Smith, Sgt. Esposito and Larry Fertig.
