First off, I'd like to thank you for starting this site.
My name is Rudy Koch and I was stationed at Rivers Barracks from 1961 to 1964. I started out as a radioman in Hdqtrs Battery and wound up as Battalion Radio Chief before I left in the summer of 1964.
Some of the guys I remember are Ron 'Light in the ass' Heren, Ron 'Pappy' Witt, Ron 'Ham' Fischer, Larry Fertig, Johnny Wayne Gary, Sgt. 'Snuffy' Smith.
It was great to be young and in uniform.

Greetings from North Carolina.I arrived at Rivers Barracks right at Christmas time in 1960,one of the last to go by ship, I think.I was in C btry,3rd Gun Battalion,82nd Arty and we had the 280mm guns that fired 600-lb projectiles. I was in the Special Weapons section. Other units there were the 92nd Arty,299th Engineers, and during the Berlin crisis when the Russian were acting up we suddenly got a radar unit. I liked Germany a lot.
