EVERYBODY USED TO "SKATE", THAT WAS EITHER GOOFING OFF OCCASIONALLY OR FOR SHORT TIMERS IT WAS A DAILY OCCURANCE. THE GUYS USED TO CLIMB UP AND TAKE THE LITTLE ROLLERS OFF OF THE CURTAINS IN THE SQUAD ROOMS BECAUSE THEY RESEMBLED ROLLER SKATE WHEELS, WITH THE AID OF A SAFETY PIN YOU COULD ATTACH THE ROLLERS TO YOUR SHIRT AND "SKATE" IN STYLE, THERE WAS ONE HAZARD, THERE WERE MILLIONS OF PUSHUPS DONE BECAUSE OF THEM, FOR SOME REASON SENIOR NCOS WERE NOT ESPECIALLY FOND OF THEM. I DIDN'T CARE, MY FIRST SERGEANT AND I ROTATED ON THE SAME DAY, I HAD 2 YEARS IN AND HE HAD 22, OH WELL!! HE MUST HAVE OVERLOOKED SOME OF MY STUNTS BECAUSE WE STILL KEEP IN TOUCH TO THIS DAY.

One of the first terms I learned when I arrived in Giessen in 72 was the term "dickhead". Now for me I felt that term was negative, but in Charlie Battery, it meant supper, great, awesome. Im still not comfortable with the interpretation.

How about this:
Send a cruit to supply to get the road wheel pump, it looks a little low on air.
Need to feed the Gama Goat. Grab the bucket and fill it up with grass. Go to maintenance HHQ and tell them you need to feed the goats.
Need more grid squares, go to supply and get some.
Wolf PUS*Y = white smoke after a fire mission

Money for nothing at the snack bar, Chop chop saying "good for you, good for the Army as he messed up your haircut. How about hearing that guy in 3/79th playing the bagpipes in the quad? seems like a hundred years now. Hartman Svc Btry 5/3rd FA REGT

Does anyone remember the free concert when the SOS band got "band" from doing concerts? And I do remember someone playing bagpipes in the quad, but only because someone mentioned it. Ratt Rigs, Wire dogs, Gun Bunnies, and a bunch of thugs using Tazers to role Germans, they got busted. Remember the DJ at the club with suspenders and no shirt, he lost his weapon and all hell broke loose? I think it fell off the back of his truck. I remember this other DJ used to sing "Always and Forever" out of key to his wife, and everyone else.

How about going to the snack bar in the morning and eating those God Awful Burritos. How about everyone hollering out "CRUITTTTT" when someone dropped a dish or glass in the Mess Hall? It seems like a hundred years ago now. Dave Hart SVC BTRY 5/3RD FA REGT

Hartman all that went on in the time I was there as well if new people no matter the rank got out of the battalion van or that ever they came in you heard "CRUITT". I remember a E7 steped out and they yelled that and he got so mad but being where he was nothing he did stopped anyone from doing it. I was there from 79 to 82 when it was still 2/92 FA not sure why they changed the Units name in my view they needed to leave it alone and it will always be 2/92 FA changing the name of stuff will never cover up what that place was like nor will it ever cover up who was there. Does anyone remember when the Officers biuldings got SC gased while they was sleeping or when someone blown up some explosives infront of Battalion HQ biulding one night the list goes on the stuff that went on in Rivers. But remembering the crazy stuff and all the other good stuff I laugh now about it and would not change a thing if I had to do it all over again there it was a time when I was young and crazy so I fitted in lol. Just a shame Rivers is no more I wouldnt mind visiting it again for old time sake oh and have a few Lichers before i left .
