1968-1969 I served at Rivers Barracks in Giessen in the 2nd BN 92 Artillery,C Battery..8 inch self propelled howitzer canons; FDC with Richard Burkley,Thomas Smith, Lawrence (Larry) Waterstradt, William (Bill) Diehl). 1st chief was Richard Hembrick(sp), I think.
Skip (Paul) Whitenack, special weapons, contacted me early this month, 8/09/06. I have also been looking for a San Antonio guy, we called him Roody (last name Valdez?? I think) The guys started calling me Tex and it stuck, even by other Texans. I believe there were many other Texans that better deserved the honorable nick name, but I did not have a say in the matter.. Just the way it happened I guess.
Great to hear from you. dan_hammock1@mail.ev1.net
