First of all, Congradulations on getting this web site going. I was at Rivers from 74-75. I was an Asst. Gunner on a 175 for C Battery, 6th Bn 9th FA, 4th Gun Section. and I have the hearing aides to prove it. It is amazing at how many years have passed. Well we made it. We used to be part of the Acid generation. Now, I guess I better speak for myself, I now belong to the Ant-Acid generation. I remember alot of the little things that happened while I was there. The beer machine down the hallway, pulling CQ and putting the drunks to bed, riding the buffer, pulling guard with a baseball bat, the John Wayne bars that came with the C-rations, the pack of 4 cigarettes that never seemed to be stale and of course the Chicklets. The constant maintaince on the tracks, clean them up to tear them up. Stealing parts from other tracks in other units. Hey, I was orderd! The Brats, beer, booze and yes I must admit the hash. Something I gave up the day I left Germany. And who can ever forget Graff. The Hulk (wind) kicked ass. My gun crew might not been the greatest at following Military guide lines, but we dam sure did are job. Base peice 99% of time. I'd gone anywhere with those guys. Actually, one of them still owes me money.I wonder what the interest would be after 30 years. Just Kidding! Anyone remember the name of the little guest house just out side the gate. I was in there with one of my buddies. There was a table were all the regulars sat (Conrads). I had been in there a bunch of times. Well this time there was this girl sitting at the table with her parents, brothers, uncles, aunts, I am not really sure who they were. Anyway we had this flirting going on back and forth between us. I was twirling the few hairs that made up my moustache and she was mimicking me. I got up to go to the bathroom and she followed. Man, I remember trying my best to get any information out of her. Phone number, to meet me there the next day, anything. She did not speak any English and of course my German was limited to Nix, Nine and Hell No. Long story short, I think the two of us made at least 5 trips to the restroom. On the last one we were making out and the whole dam family that was sitting at that table wound up in there with us. I was of course shown the front door. I think I walked back and forth in front of the place every night for a week, like a love sick schoolboy riding his bike back in front of a girls house, hoping to get a glimpse of her again. It never happened. Eventually I got the nerve up to go back in there and the owner informed me that she was only 16 years old. Hell, I did not know. The girls all looked so grown over there, She was drinking a beer. I was just barely over 18 myself. I guess I would have to say that was my only regret. But in it's own way I find it to be a good memory. But I can't help but wonder!

IF ANYONE FROM 6/9TH ABOUT 1969 OR 70 SEE THIS, I'M TRYING TO REMEMBER AN OLD GUY THAT WAS A CORPORAL IN A GUN SECTION AND REFUSED TO BE PROMOTED, HE WAS A LOT OLDER THAN ANY OF USE AND MAY HAVE BEEN AROUND SINCE WWII, SERIOUSLY. SEEMS LIKE HIS NAME WAS STAZIEK OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. I'D APPRECIATE AN EMAIL FROM SOMEONE THAT REMEMBERS HIM. HE WAS SENT TO THE NCO ACADEMY AT BAD TOLZ IN THE SPRING OF 1969, I WAS IN THE CLASS AHEAD OF HIM AND SIGNED HIM IN WHEN HE ARRIVED THERE

I was stationed in charlie battery from 77 to 79. Hated the place while I was there. but have alot of good memories and good times with my buds. Gull Burton bonds and ricky johnson lehu dalke pettis lehr wouldn't trade those times for anything. Still stay in touch with Gary Aerounts. Sgt Kissel was section chief. Graf sucked so did Reforger in 78 went 2 weeks without shower. First group got caught with beer on shower run so the rest of us got screwed. Rember react force? Went to alot of good concerts in Frankfurt. like to hear from any "old road dogs" oh yeh went by Andy over there.

Hello to all, this is Richard Reed, I was with the 6th Bn. 9th FA from 75 -77. Hey Stone I remember you. I was in Service Btry. Battalion Maintenance. Mr. Blackwell was my WO3. I was part of the M-88 / M-578 crew, along with Bob Service, Andy Reouse, Willy English, Frank Judy, Comstock, and Langston. Barry Wickham was our welder. From time to time, I also go to the rivers barracks face book page looking for folks. Does anyone out there remember going to a club called Penny Lane?

STILL HAVEN'T HEARD FROM ANYONE BUT I'M STILL EAGERLY WAITING, COME ON GUYS, I KNOW Y'ALL GOTTA BE OUT THERE SOMEWHERE!! I was in the 6/9th in 1970/1971 Charlie battery. the corporal I remember wasn't on a gun crew but took care of the weapon store. Seems his name was Agarn, not positive. He was old and said they had stopped the rank of corporal, he was one of the last. Sorry for the lack of info. When I arrived the gun crews were full and I was put into communication and didn't like it. They then sent me to mechanics school in Graph, after that I served the rest of my time as a mechanic. We all got a five month early out because the war in Nam was winding down.

I've only been able to stay in touch with one other chap, Rick Fonger from Lowell, Mich. it was an interesting time. I've been back to Germany a number of times and have even looked up some old friends whom I've kept in touch with. RIvers is now an office center with all the barricks still around the triangle. The motor pools are now filled with car dealers. Most of the off base housing is being used to house all the immigrants flowing into Western Europe.
